Fishing reports 4/30 &; 5/2 Report posted by Capt. Fran Verdi of the The Drop Off on 5/03/08
4/30/08 Capt. Fran did not have a charter to day and got a late start due to my supplier having not clams in stock. Found a bushel and was on the water by 10:30 am. Was able to fish the last 2 hours of the out going tide one bluefish in the 5 to 8 pound range and several skates. Due to the rain that we had the water temp dropped to about 55 degrees. I stayed about an hour and half after the turn of the tide and landed one more bluefish in the same range. The water in the bay was dirty and brown. With rain in the forecast fishing might slow down but should pick up again with the nice weather that is planned for next week.
5/2/08 Capt. Fran had no takers for the open boat trip today. That is ok, because on The Drop Off it must me Black Drum Friday. Last Friday a 22pound Black Drum was landed and today another Black Drum but this one was 33 pounds. Water in the Great Bay area was 57 degrees because of the rain on Monday. Blues were slow today with one blue and stripers were not found. Water is still a little bit dirty. Stripers should be spawning in the river now and should be making there way back to the ocean in the next week or two.
To Book A Trip Call 609-868-8970 Open boats running all the time until Memorial weekend.
Thanks, Capt. Fran |
