Tuna Fishing at Oregon Inlet, NC Report posted by Capt. Lindsay Fuller of the June Bug on 4/08/08
Yellowfin fishing has been hot at Oregon Inlet. While the wind this spring has been a bear, on fishable days the fleet is crushing teh Yellowfin. There are quite a few Blue Marlin mixed in as well as well as a few Big Eye Tuna. June Bug uis back fishing after getting her maintenance completed at Spencer Yachts. What a great job Spencer does. We'll be back in New Jersey earlier this year. We plan to move north around the beginning of May instead of after Memorial Day. If you have been watching the offshore temperature charts, there was a lovely huge warm eddy bumping along the 100 fathom line for the last few weeks. It looks as if it has reassimilated back into the Gulf Stream now but it was one pretty eddy while it lasted. Hope we get more of them this year. Remember that charter fishing is STILL an inexpensive recreation when compared to other options. Sure, fuel is more expensive but when you split it up with your friends, charter fishing even offshore is STILL an affordable great day on the ocean. Let's go fishin'!
