Striper/Fluke Fishing
Report posted by Capt. Fran Verdi of the The Drop Off on 6/04/07

6/2/02007
Capt. Fran was on The Drop Off Sat. with the DePhillips Family from West Chester, PA. The Trip started with a trip up the beach looking for the Bunker pods to see about stripers. There were small group of bunker but they were not breaking the surface. I got a phone call about the bunker pods were 5 to 10 miles north a Barnegat Inlet but we had already put the plain B fish into action. Fluke fish in the Back Bay. There was a lot of action in the bay with mostly short fluke. (Father Mark and Older son Grant) did nicely with a couple of shorts but it was the two younger sons (Jason and Nick) battled it out to see how many fish they could get. All in all the day was nice and the catch was well over the 20 mark with two or three just short of the 17” mark. Water temp in the ocean was 53 degrees and in the back bay 73 degrees. The air temp dropped about ten degrees from the bay to the ocean.

Capt Fran will run an open boat for Thursday 7, Please call if you would like a spot on the boat. It will be a Back Bay trip for fluke. 609-868-8970 or 609-978-2168.
