Memorial weekend 5/25 to 5/27 Report posted by Capt. Fran Verdi of the Cousins The Drop Off on 5/27/07
Memorial Day weekend fishing report. Captain Fran had the Cousins Boat out on Friday in the great bay area trying for one last striper but only had bluefish with the other two owners of the boat. On Sat. Capt. Fran was out again on Cousins with a morning trip and an afternoon trip. In the morning fluke fishing was slow in Little Egg Inlet with most of the catch coming to be dog sharks. The Afternoon trip had a little more of a mix between sea bass and dog sharks on the Little Egg Reef. On Sunday Capt. Fran was on The Drop Off with Joe & Alex Zubko fishing the grassy channel area. Fluke were found in large quantity but the ratio was 10 shorts to 1 keeper. The father and son team had a nice day with action from both the fish and the gnats. A Bug repellent was a must. Two keepers were caught over the 17 inch mark and several would have been keepers if they did not raise the size limit. Finished the 4 hour trip in Little Egg inlet but the action was slow. Grassy channel and the stakes were the two hot spots for the weekend. Capt. Fran Verdi
