Blowout weekend starting July 20, 2006
Report posted by Capt. Lindsay Fuller of the June Bug on 7/30/06

The weekend that started with Thursday, July 20 was a blowout. First a tropical storm came through offshore. Then we noticed that the forecast continued to be bad all the way through the following Tuesday with very high winds.

Jim Eberwine at NOAA Weather explained ... "This year the Western Atlantic High Pressure area known as the Bermuda High is the stongest in years. This provides a blocking force to low pressure cold fronts as they move north and east. The weather will remain very windy, to 30 knots, as the cold front smashed against the immovable Bermuda High. As the prtessure gradients compress together, the wiund speed correspondingly rises."

That's exactly what happened. No one fished, except in the bay, all weekend.
