Inshore Tuna on Wednesday, July 19 Report posted by Capt. Lindsay Fuller of the June Bug on 7/24/06
Rob Patterson's guests cancelled for the day so we decided to take Rob and one of his company's execs to the 25 Fathom Hole for some Bluefin fishing. We had 4 knockdowns. Two fish hooked up, an 80 pounder and a 50 pounder. The 80 pounder was at the boat, the mate had the leader and was reaching to gaff the fish when the fish twisted and the new "wonderful" Owner Marlin presharpened wire hook broke at the start of the curve of the hook. So much for new and wonderful. Get those brittle disasters off my boat. Give me a forged hook any day. Naturally, the 80 pounder ate the only bait using the Owner hook. The rest of the baits all had good solid Mustad forged hooks, hand sharpened. Sea conditions were great. The wind came up on the way home but we ran the troughs at normal speed. Capt.
